Il Borro Named Official Wine Sponsor for the 2018 Windsor Charity Polo Cup
Windsor is pleased to announce that Il Borro has been named the official Wine Sponsor for the 2018 Windsor Charity Polo Cup. Il Borro will serve their acclaimed wines including Il Borro Pian Di Nova and Il Borro Lamelle at the luncheon, which begins at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, in advance of the highly-anticipated polo match.
Purchased in 1993, Salvatore Ferragamo, grandson of esteemed Italian footwear designer, currently serves as President of Il Borro, a winery located in the Tuscan region of Italy. Il Borro, situated on a 1,700-acre medieval village, grows both Italian and international varietals to produce wines with distinct flavors. Il Borro Pian Di Nova is a full-bodied wine marked by subtlety and softness that is generous on the palate, while Il Borro Lamelle has a bouquet full of fresh, white pulp fruit and tropical fruit scents, in addition to a slightly-spicy vanilla note.
“We are so grateful for Salvatore’s continued commitment to the event as our Honorary Co-Chair and we are honored to serve the fine wines of Il Borro at this very special event for Windsor,” said Lauren Melillo, Windsor’s Director of Events and member of the Windsor Charity Polo Cup Steering Committee.
The wines served at the luncheon will be paired with a menu specially-crafted by Windsor’s Executive Chef Robert Meitzer, featuring passed canapés, a beef tenderloin and crab entrée and a delectable chocolate and raspberry dessert.
In addition to wine, another of Mr. Ferragamo’s passions is polo, and he has served as the Windsor Charity Polo Cup’s Honorary Co-Chair, alongside the Hon. Hilary M. Weston, since its inception in 2012. Luncheon tickets can be purchased for individuals at $300 per ticket or for a table of ten for $3,200. Attendees with luncheon tickets will also have the opportunity to enjoy a music and champagne reception beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the main pavilion.
With several types of accommodations located throughout the village, including luxury villas and elegant suites, Il Borro became a member of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux association in 2012, with Mr. Ferragamo serving as a brand ambassador the following year. Guests of Il Borro can experience unique offerings ranging from cooking and painting classes, tennis and yoga, and regional excursions such as hot air balloon rides and helicopter tours.
“I’m very pleased to be part of the 2018 Windsor Charity Polo Cup. This event allows me to give back to the community and support a great cause, while also enjoying my passion for polo. I feel privileged to sit as an honorary chairman alongside Hilary Weston, who I thank for this incredible opportunity. This year, I am bringing a piece of Tuscany to the event with a selection of wines from my family’s estate that I hope everyone will enjoy,” said Mr. Ferragamo.
Il Borro joins an impressive line-up of event sponsors including Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Audi of Melbourne, CBRE, Château d’Esclans, Falasiri Oriental Rugs, J.McLaughlin, Casa Dragones, Maria Canale, PNC Bank, Equestrian Living and Vero Beach Magazine, among others.
