Moor, Baker & Associates Architects, P.A. Wins Palladio Award for Architectural Design of a Windsor South Village Home
Windsor is pleased to announce that Moor, Baker & Associates Architects, P.A. has won the Palladio Award for New Design & Construction for the firm’s work on a Windsor South Village residence.
Co-produced by TRADITIONAL BUILDING magazine and the TRADITIONAL BUILDING Conference Series, the annual Palladio Awards honor outstanding achievement in traditional design. The event recognizes both individual designers and design teams whose work enhances the beauty and humane qualities of the built environment. This year’s 21st annual Palladio Awards competition recognized 14 architectural firms across the commercial, institutional, public and residential sectors.
“This Windsor residence is an undulating sculpture,” said Nancy Berry, editor of TRADITIONAL BUILDING. “It’s compact, with a country garden feel and the spiral staircase is a work of art.”
Located in Windsor’s peaceful South Village neighborhood, the elegant 4,900 square foot, five-bedroom home was conceived as a symmetrical garden villa in the manner of grand country estates. With its sculpted stucco façade and interior architecture, the design is a sophisticated contemporary interpretation of traditional Anglo-Caribbean design.
“Fitting this much house on a small lot was our biggest challenge,” said Peter Moor, principal of Moor, Baker & Associates Architects, P.A. “But the planning and design guidelines mandated by Windsor are what make it a great place. These guidelines spurred our creativity.”
Moor, Baker & Associates Architects, P.A. works with a diversified portfolio of projects across the Vero Beach and greater South Florida area. The firm has received numerous design awards, including the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art’s 2020 Addison Mizner Award for Single Family Homes under 5,000 square feet for this same Windsor South Village home. Their work has been featured in several books and periodicals including the ICAA’s A Decade of Art & Architecture 1992-2002, Beachside: Windsor Architecture and Design, At Home on the Water, Elle Décor, Garden & Gun, House Beautiful and Milieu.
