Windsor Announces its Sponsors and Rising Female Professional Player, Hope Arellano, to Play at the 2022 Windsor Charity Polo Cup

    January 28, 2022 | Windsor Florida |

Windsor’s highly anticipated 2022 Windsor Charity Polo Cup announces its esteemed sponsors along with the rising fourth-generation polo player, Hope Arellano, to play at its February charity cup.

Hope Arellano has taken the game of polo by storm. She is recognized as one of the most talented female polo players in the world. She plays in low, medium, and high-goal tournaments in both mixed and women’s tournaments and travels around the country competing. She is the youngest woman to ever win the Women’s U.S. Open in 2017 at the Houston Polo Club at the age of 14 and this year she played her first Women’s Argentine Open and was raised to a handicap of 9 in that country. She is currently being trialed to compete for the U.S. National team in next October’s FIP World Championships. She would be the first woman to compete at that level if she makes the team.

“This year’s polo event will be unlike any other. We are thrilled to have the exceptionally talented, Hope Arellano, as a player on one of our teams, not to mention the outstanding lineup of sponsors who have joined us in supporting this worthy cause,” said Max Secunda, Director of Equestrian Operations at Windsor and the event’s Match Director.

Presented by PNC Bank and co-chaired by The Hon. Hilary M. Weston and Salvatore Ferragamo, the Windsor Charity Polo Cup is recognized as the premier charity sporting event of the season in Vero Beach. The 2022 event will raise funds for two local environmentally focused charities – the Ocean Research & Conservation Association (ORCA) and the Environmental Learning Center (ELC). Net proceeds of the event will be donated equally to both charities in support of their respective causes.

Signature corporate sponsors include NetJets, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Audi of Melbourne, Belle Cose, Paul Morelli, L3 Harris, CBRE, J.McLaughlin, GHO Homes, JUSTIN Wines, Lanson Champagne and Beluga Vodka. Numerous Windsor Members have also generously sponsored the event. The family-friendly day will include a variety of interactive events and exhibitions to showcase the various sponsors’ offerings.

The weekend’s festivities begin with the Players Reception Cocktail Party the evening before the event on February 18, 2022. This intimate affair is attended by signature sponsors, polo players and other VIP guests. The following day, more than 500 guests will enjoy an elegant reception, Junior Player Match followed by a luncheon and the game’s opening ceremonies. Performing the National Anthem will be Vero Beach High School junior and Riverside Theatre singer and actor, Kristina Gregg.

For a more casual experience, 90 cars will fill the themed Tailgate section. In honor of the event’s beneficiaries, the 2022 Tailgate theme is Celebrating Planet Earth. Prizes will be awarded based on creativity and educational messaging.

Guests can also enjoy participating in a high-end raffle, viewing the People’s Choice Concours presented by The Space Coast Region Porsche Club of America, shopping in the Specialty Retail Village and socializing in the various hospitality tent setups.

As the Luxury Automobile Sponsor, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Audi of Melbourne will be returning this year to display its notable car brands’ top luxury models during the Player Reception Cocktail Party. Sponsor representatives will also drive a selection of cars onto the field to deliver the players pre-match and will return to the field during the iconic half-time Divot Stomp.

NetJets, the event’s Private Aviation Sponsor, will host a hospitality area in the main pavilion. For an interactive experience for the guests, NetJets will have a mock-up of the Cessna Citation Longitude business jet on display for participants to tour.

The four beverage sponsors will showcase their respective offerings during the polo event. Beluga Vodka is contributing its renowned vodka for the event’s Signature Cocktail, aptly titled “The Mallet.” As the exclusive Champagne Sponsor, Lanson Champagne is donating its Pére & Fils Brut to be poured at the luncheon and at a players’ toast during the awards ceremony.  In addition to Lanson’s champagne, the luncheon will feature the world-class Bordeaux-style wines donated by JUSTIN Wines. Royal Salute will also contribute its exceptional Scotch Whisky for a tasting at the Players Reception.

Belle Cose and Paul Morelli return as the Luxury Jeweler Co-Sponsors for the event. The two brands have jointly donated Paul Morelli’s one-of-a-kind Dragonfly Necklace, featuring a 1.58 carat white diamond, 1.44 carat multi-color sapphire and .21 carat tsavorite set in platinum, valued at $23,000. The statement piece will serve as the feature item in the charity event’s prestigious raffle. In addition, the brands will also be in the event’s Specialty Retail Village.

Local artist Dr. Johnson Hagood will be serving as this year’s Official Commemorative Poster Artist. An accomplished oil and acrylic artist, Dr. Hagood has donated one of his works titled The Match, an acrylic painting capturing the excitement and intensity of the sport of polo. The piece will be auctioned off at the charity event luncheon. With a steady hand and artistic talent, it is no surprise that Dr. Hagood is also a highly skilled restorative and cosmetic dentist with a thriving practice in Vero Beach.
