Windsor Welcomes New Director of Golf to Esteemed Florida Course
Windsor, a 472-acre private residential community located along Florida’s Treasure Coast, is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Ryan Skipton as the course’s newest Director of Golf. With over twenty years of professional experience, Skipton will oversee Windsor’s 18-hole Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed championship golf course. As part of his role, he will be introducing the newest golf technology to Windsor, along with a newly hired PGA Professional team.
A graduate of Coastal Carolina University’s PGA Golf Management program, Skipton most recently served as the Director of Golf for The Ford Field & River Club in Richmond Hill, GA. Previously, he held positions with the National Golf Links of America in Southampton, NY; The Creek in Locust Valley, NY; the Dye Preserve in Jupiter, FL; and Pebble Beach Golf Links, CA. In 2021, Skipton received the Georgia PGA Professional Development Award.
“For more than three decades, Windsor has prided itself on its best-in-class golf program, offering a unique approach to golfers at every level,” said Betsy Hanley, President of Windsor Real Estate, Inc. “We are excited to see the leadership, innovation and new technology Ryan will bring to the course at Windsor.”
Skipton plans to introduce new technology to Windsor’s golf program including the Trackman 4, a cutting-edge dual radar launch monitor that captures data for the entire ball fight and club data from impact. This new technology will offer players real-time feedback and suggestions for improvement of their golf game.
With a goal of continuing to promote the game of golf to members at any level, Skipton has recruited five new PGA Professional staff to join him at Windsor. The additional staff will allow for a stronger presence on the course where they will monitor play and be available to golfers throughout the day. The team also will help with structured clinics and teaching programs aimed at beginners as well as men and ladies. One of the new Windsor hires will serve as a dedicated on-site club fitter.
“I have always admired the golf offering at Windsor, from the challenge of the course to the strong focus on member enjoyment” said Ryan Skipton. “I am thrilled to begin this journey at Windsor and to continue to elevate the golf experience for the community and its growing membership.”
Windsor’s 18-hole golf course was originally designed in 1991 by legendary golf course architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr. In 2019, Jones Jr. returned with his team to carry out an extensive renovation of the 120-acre course that recaptured the original design intent and updated golf holes in concert with today’s game. Highlights of the renovation include replacement of grass on all greens, tees, fairways, and roughs; enlargement and reorientation of tee boxes; and restoration of original hole locations and bunker shapes. To remain ecologically sensitive and reduce the golf club’s carbon footprint, the renovation introduced a more drought-tolerant variety of Bermuda grass, reduced areas that need to be mowed, and a new state-of-the-art irrigation system. The Windsor course allows all members to play at their own pace, as golfers enjoy a no-tee time policy.
