Windsor is delighted to announce that Stick & Ball, a polo-inspired luxury lifestyle collection, will serve as the Luncheon Gift Bag Sponsor for the 2018 Windsor Charity Polo Cup. Stick & Ball will donate eight hundred custom luxury tote bags to be given to the event’s luncheon reception attendees.

Stick & Ball is a luxurious apparel and lifestyle brand that celebrates the spirit and aesthetic of polo in the countryside. The brand’s designs are created using inspiration from polo’s global landscape – from the country hills of California to the grasslands of Argentina and beyond. Stick & Ball’s mission is to create heritage quality products with the versatility to transition throughout the seasons.

A special collection from the Stick & Ball line will be available for purchase at a pop-up store at the event located in the Specialty Retail Village, with founder and creative director Elizabeth Goodwin Welborn in attendance.

“We are happy to travel to Windsor for one of our favorite charity polo events.  In addition to our signature line of luxury alpaca ponchos, we will be showcasing our Italian leather accessories collection, hand stitched linen shirts for men and women, and equestrian inspired hand stitched silk scarves,” says Goodwin Welborn.

“The gift bag is a new addition to the event and I could not be more pleased that Stick & Ball selected this sponsorship. Their one-of-a-kind designs are beautifully crafted and we cannot wait to see the tote bag Elizabeth has dreamed up for us,” said Maria Whittle, Co-Founder and Steering Committee Member of the Windsor Charity Polo Cup.

Co-chaired by the Hon. Hilary M. Weston and Salvatore Ferragamo, the Windsor Charity Polo Cup is recognized as the premier high-goal charity polo match of the season. Taking place on Saturday, February 17, 2018, on Windsor’s polo grounds in Vero Beach, Florida, the event will feature a roster of top-level international players.

The biennial event raises money for The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, as well as the Alzheimer & Parkinson Association of Indian River County.

Stick & Ball joins a growing line-up of sponsors, including Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Audi of Melbourne, CBRE, Château d’Esclans, Falasiri Oriental Rugs, J.McLaughlin, Casa Dragones, Il Borro, Equestrian Living and Vero Beach Magazine, among others.

The Royal Academy of Arts, London, announces a new three-year curatorial partnership with The Gallery at Windsor, Vero Beach, Florida. Opening on January 15, 2018, the first annual exhibition at Windsor presented in collaboration with the Royal Academy will be Grayson Perry Making Meaning. The Hon. Hilary M. Weston, Windsor co-founder and Creative Director for The Gallery at Windsor, Christopher Le Brun, President of the Royal Academy, and Tim Marlow, Artistic Director of the Royal Academy have selected the program.  Exhibitions by two further Royal Academicians will take place in 2019 and 2020.

Internationally renowned British artist and Turner Prize winner Grayson Perry RA is a vivid chronicler of contemporary life, boldly tackling subjects that are universally human, such as identity, gender, social status, sexuality and religion. Autobiographical references – to the artist’s childhood, his family and his transvestite alter ego Claire – can be read in tandem with questions about décor and decorum, class and taste, and the status of the artist versus that of the artisan. Perry uses the seductive qualities of ceramics and other traditional art forms, including cast iron, bronze, printmaking and tapestry, to make stealthy comments about society, past and present, and its pleasures as well as its injustices and flaws.

Making Meaning will offer an overview of Grayson Perry’s work, exploring themes of Britishness, identity, craftsmanship and the art establishment. The exhibition will include some of his major works in ceramic, tapestry, sculpture and etching, as well as featuring vignettes from some of the artist’s recent museum shows, in particular the monumental tapestry Comfort Blanket, exhibited in Perry’s acclaimed National Portrait Gallery London exhibition Who are you? in 2014. The exhibition has been curated by Erin Manns, Director of Exhibitions, Victoria Miro, London. There will be a fully illustrated catalogue published by Windsor Press and the RA, with an essay by Jenny Uglow and an interview with Grayson Perry by Tim Marlow and Christopher Le Brun.

Celebrating its 250th year, the RA is an independent institution led by eminent artists and architects; its purpose is to promote the creation, enjoyment and appreciation of the visual arts through exhibitions, education and debate. The three-year curatorial collaboration builds on the exhibition program of renowned artists who have shown at The Gallery at Windsor, with recent exhibitions of Christopher Le Brun PRA, Peter Doig, Jasper Johns Hon RA, Per Kirkeby Hon RA and Ed Ruscha Hon RA.

Tim Marlow, Artistic Director at the Royal Academy of Arts, said: “The RA is delighted to be working with The Gallery at Windsor, Florida, to bring some of Britain’s most well-loved artists to American audiences. The curatorial partnership between the RA and Windsor perfectly complements the RA’s mission to promote the lively exchange of culture and ideas not just in the UK, but internationally, and I’m immensely proud that Grayson Perry is launching the project – he is one of the most perceptive and provocative artists of his generation and although he will hate me for saying this, he’s well on the way to the status of a national treasure.”

Christopher Le Brun, President of the Royal Academy of Arts, said: “I was delighted to present an exhibition of work at Windsor at the beginning of the year, and am pleased to have played a part in bringing two institutions with a rich exhibition history together. I’m looking forward to seeing what each of our Academicians has in store for us.”

The Hon. Hilary M. Weston, co-founder of Windsor and the Creative Director for The Gallery at Windsor said “We have long admired the Royal Academy and its internationally renowned program of exhibitions and events, and are delighted to be forming a partnership with them. We are honored to welcome Grayson Perry as the first artist in our exhibition series. Windsor has a fantastic history of showing world-class contemporary artists, including Ed Ruscha, Peter Doig and Alex Katz, and Grayson is a glittering addition.”

About the Royal Academy of Arts
The Royal Academy of Arts was founded by King George III in 1768. It has a unique position in being an independent, privately funded institution led by eminent artists and architects whose purpose is to be a clear, strong voice for art and artists.  Its public programme promotes the creation, enjoyment and appreciation of the visual arts through exhibitions, education and debate.

The RA is undergoing a transformative redevelopment which will be completed in time for its 250th anniversary in 2018. Led by the internationally-acclaimed architect Sir David Chipperfield RA and supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), the plans will link Burlington House on Piccadilly and Burlington Gardens for the first time, uniting the two-acre site. The redevelopment will also reveal the elements that make the RA unique, sharing with the public the historic treasures in its Collection, the work of its Academicians and the RA Schools, alongside its world-class exhibitions programme. For more information on the RA visit www.royalacademy.org.uk/ra250#video.

    About Grayson Perry RA
Born in Chelmsford, Essex in 1960, Grayson Perry lives and works in London. Institutional venues for major national and international solo exhibitions by the artist include The Serpentine Galleries, London (2017); Arnolfini, Bristol (2017); ARoS Aarhus Art Museum, Aarhus (2016); Bonnefantenmuseum, Maastricht (2016); Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney (2015 – 2016) and Turner Contemporary, Margate (2015). The making of these works was chronicled in the first of Perry’s Channel 4 television series, All In the Best Possible Taste, a 2013 Bafta Specialist Factual winner. Perry’s second Bafta-winning television series Who Are You?, about identity, was broadcast in 2014, accompanied by a solo presentation of works at the National Portrait Gallery, London. The series All Man, which considered masculinity, followed in 2016, with Allen Lane publishing the related book The Descent of Man. Perry delivered The Reith Lectures, BBC Radio 4’s annual flagship talk series, in 2013; his ensuing book Playing to the Gallery is published by Penguin. The artist’s A House for Essex, a permanent building designed in collaboration with FAT Architecture, was constructed in the North Essex countryside in 2015.

Winner of the 2003 Turner Prize, Perry was elected a Royal Academician in 2012, and received a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in 2013; he has been awarded the prestigious appointments of Trustee of the British Museum and Chancellor of the University of the Arts London (both in 2015), and received a RIBA Honorary Fellowship in 2016.

From unique contemporary creations, to fine antique masterworks, Jafar Falasiri has been sourcing exquisite carpets to discriminating clients for 50 years. Whether a cutting-edge rug from an artist’s studio, a palace carpet from a country estate, or a rare horse trapping from the plains of Uzbekistan, he has crisscrossed the globe to find pieces that satisfy his connoisseur’s eye.

“We are blessed by our wonderful community, our terrific clients, and the opportunity to help support Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s research. The Windsor Charity Polo event allows us to celebrate all those things, with the big bonus of a beautiful day and a wonderful time! What can be better than that?” said Jafar Falasiri.

Windsor members Tim & Mary Mullan and Chris & Maria Whittle have joined forces to sponsor a team and have aptly named it “Pezuñas Calientes,” which when translated means “hot hoofs.”  Mary Mullan and Maria Whittle are two of the original founders of the Windsor Charity Polo Cup.

It is a wonderful and not to be missed event that raises substantial funds to help those in need in the Vero Beach community and elsewhere. Co-chaired by the Hon. Hilary M. Weston and Salvatore Ferragamo, the Windsor Charity Polo Cup is recognized as the premier high-goal charity polo match of the season. Taking place on Saturday, February 17, 2018, on Windsor’s polo grounds in Vero Beach, Florida, the event will feature a roster of top-level international players including Malcolm Borwick, Lucas Criado and Magoo Laprida.

In addition, we have used the opportunity to update our arena surface,” says Max Secunda, Windsor’s Director of Equestrian Operations.

“Not only does the 170-yard-long field enhance the aesthetics of the Equestrian Centre, it has been carefully engineered to drain rapidly and allow practice even in Florida’s rainy season. The field has been sodded with 419, a Bermuda hybrid proven to withstand the rigors of some of the world’s most important international tournaments.”

The stick and ball field will be ideal for introducing beginners and children to the sport, as well as to three-on-three games and stick and ball for more experienced players. Creating this dedicated space allows Members to regularly play polo at Windsor, a sport growing in popularity each season. It also provides a large available space for other activities such as soccer, equestrian exhibitions or parties like the popular Asado Grill.

“The new field and our horses are ready for play and I look forward to introducing this new amenity to Windsor Member families and guests this season,” says Secunda.

Windsor is pleased to reveal the Official Windsor Charity Polo Cup Commemorative Poster Artwork by acclaimed artist Susan Easton Burns. The bespoke polo-themed piece includes a colorful abstract equestrian composition in Easton Burns’ unique and moving style.

Entitled “Jingo Lo Ba,” the artwork will be auctioned off at the Windsor Charity Polo Cup with silent bids beginning at the Players Cocktail Reception on Friday, February 16, the evening before the polo match.

“The piece was named from a Carlos Santana performance that I listened to every day while painting,” said Easton Burns. “The song features the natural sounds of the horse’s hooves, and the wave of a thousand-pound animal flying past with precise footsteps.”

Easton Burns has allowed her love and appreciation for equestrian sports define her career as an artist. Since she was a young girl living in upstate New York, she has used the strength and finesse of horses as inspiration for her bold contrasting pieces. Her work to date has gained national recognition and in 2013, she was chosen as the official artist for the 140th Kentucky Derby that took place in 2014.

“Numerous artists submitted their art for consideration, but I was immediately drawn to Susan Easton Burns’ work.  It evokes the thunder of hooves, the very spirit of the horse, and captures the beauty of the moment.  This particular piece is visually thrilling. Looking at it makes my heart pound,” said Maria Whittle, Co-Founder and Steering Committee Member of the Windsor Charity Polo Cup.

dk Gallery, a leading contemporary fine art gallery, will hold a pop-up gallery in the event’s Specialty Retail Village showcasing a selection of works by the artist available for purchase. A percentage of all sales will also go to the event’s charities.  Easton Burns’ paintings are completely original, one-of-a-kind and available in small to large-scale sizes.

Co-chaired by the Hon. Hilary M. Weston and Salvatore Ferragamo, the Windsor Charity Polo Cup is recognized as the premier high-goal charity polo match of the season. Taking place on Saturday, February 17, 2018, on Windsor’s polo grounds, the event will feature a roster of top-level international players.

The biennial event’s purpose is to raise money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, as well as the Alzheimer & Parkinson Association of Indian River County.

    About Vero Beach Magazine

Founded in 1997 by Elizabeth (Beth) Moulton, a Connecticut transplant with a Vero Beach spouse, the magazine’s main goal is to celebrate all the qualities that make the Vero Beach community beloved by both year-round and seasonal residents.  The magazine strives to be a positive force in the community by engaging readers with truthful, quality editorial and photography; generating support for non-profit organizations; and promoting local small businesses.  The staff believes that regional publications have an obligation to give back to the communities that they serve by supporting local non-profit fundraising efforts, financially and editorially, and uncovering methods to preserve local history and the environment.

Windsor today revealed acclaimed painter Susan Easton Burns will design the 2018 Charity Polo Cup commemorative poster.  As the official artist of the biennial charity event, Easton Burns will create a piece of artwork that embodies the competitive nature of the sport and the sophistication of the Windsor event.  Easton Burns’ admiration for horses from an early age coupled with her masterful skill in acrylic paint will result in a poster depicting the true elegance of the sport and its fundemental connection to the Windsor community.  The poster will be available for sale at the February 17, 2018 event as well as online, and the original piece will be auctioned off during the event’s luncheon.

The partnership between Windsor and Easton Burns was a natural fit given Easton Burns’ recent endeavor as the 2014 Kentucky Derby artist. Proceeds from the Windsor Charity Polo Cup will provide support to individuals and their families who are struggling with an Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s diagnosis and to help fund research to find a cure. Funds raised will be distributed equally to the national organization, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research and locally to the Alzheimer & Parkinson Association of Indian River County.

“What an honor it is to be asked to create a piece of art for the Windsor Charity Polo Cup,” says Susan Easton Burns, Official 2018 Windsor Charity Polo Cup Artist. “I am fortunate to be part of such a symbolic event that not only unites humans with nature, but also supports the worthy causes of both The Michael J. Fox Foundation and local Alzheimer & Parkinson Association of Indian River County.”

Susan Easton Burns is one of today’s most accomplished equestrian artists, portraying an intimacy of nature in her artwork that is recognizable among the horse world. Growing up in a rural town surrounded by rolling hills and horse farms outside of Niagara Falls, New York, a love of both art and horses defined Easton Burns’ childhood. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education with a minor in Painting and Ceramics from Buffalo State University, as well as studied under world-renowned artists Suzanne Phalen, Stephen Clippinger, Irving Shapiro, Don Bulucos and Sandi Grow Murray. After relocating to the Atlanta area in the mid 1980’s, she taught for several years at the Art Institute of Atlanta and the Portfolio Center where she learned that staying connected to young artists and making contributions to the community are rewards themselves. With a fascination of horses, Easton Burns utilizes human attributes of excitement, power, sadness, curiousness, fear, anger and kindness in her paintings to connect the beauty of nature with humanity.
